Double check theres no air inside the coolant jacket. Dont worry i once saw 225 while idling and everything was fine.

Normal cylinder head temperature mustang. 210 220 fahrenheit so around 20 30 degrees above engine temperature and also showing higher figures earlier in the warm up process than engine temperature gauge engine coolant temperature gauge located under tachometer usually vertical as far as i remember. 223 degrees is a little elevated but that can happen when you have higher ambient temps. Not from the coolant temperature sensor. The coolant temp was well within normal operating limits and the cht did drop back around 198 or so when i left. If not then straight up temperature is ok. I also found this on the web regarding the cht. Coolant exits the engine at the coolant neck on top and flows back to both the radiator and a return to the engine at the y pipe.
Soooooooo the temperature as reported by the pcm is from the cylinder head temperature sensor. Whats the norm for cylinder head temp.
